We live on a six acre hobby farm located 10 km from beautiful Victoria, British Columbia. We have 22 llamas, about 60 laying hens, and three barn cats.
We require a mature couple, preferably with farm or DIY experience, to feed the animals, collect the eggs and enjoy the lifestyle. Our home is a 4,500 sq. ft. modern residence in a private, sunny spot. It has a huge sundeck, great for relaxing. The gardens should not require any maintenance during the period of our absence.
The llamas have continuous access to hay and the hay bins need filling once a week. We have a small tractor and trailer for this work, although about ten - 50lb. hay bales have to be manually handled with each top up. The eggs have to be collected and washed daily, and the hens need a 50lb. bag of feed emptied into their feed bins every 2 to 3 days. Altogether, it takes one person about 1.5 hours per day, or more if you enjoy interacting with the llamas.
Exact dates for the farm sit are not yet fixed. We will always be available by while away. Our home has a private suite available for the farm sitters so that you can stay here for at least one day before we leave.
