If you are looking for a home away from home in the eastern US, then this 1871 brick townhome is the place to be. Not far from Philadelphia, Washington, Baltimore, Wilmington, and New York, as well as Gettysburg, it's possible to visit, go to shows, concerts, and shop in a day.
In the summer, there is the garden, the outdoor room with flowers and fountain, and no grass! If it's too hot, the entire house is air conditioned. In the winter, there are the fireplaces for snuggling with Nutmeg, the blended calico cat.
When Gary and I travel, we like our pet lovers/home sitters to maintain our home with a regular schedule for Nutmeg and light home maintenance (such as putting out the trash weekly, letting in the housekeeper, etc.) In case of snow, Gary has arranged for neighbors to handle snow removal if it is more than a dusting. Nutmeg is friendly and well behaved (for a cat).
We live in a 3 story brick townhouse in the city, with 2 fireplaces, a guest bedroom plus private bath for the sitter, and a large kitchen that serves as the main nesting place for anyone who visits. The kitchen has a fireplace, and the only tv is located in the kitchen. The kitchen looks out 4 large windows into the walled garden that has bird feeders and a fountain. There is wi fi all over the house. The living room has a fireplace, too.
We have a 2 car garage at the rear of the house, and a garage space may be available if you have a vehicle. The home and garage are fully alarmed for fire and burglary, and we expect the alarm system to be used.
