Looking for a house and cat sitter in St. Albert, Alberta, a bedroom community just north of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada from April 21-May 9, 2017. Leaving April 22 but want an overlapping day. You are welcome to stay a few days on each side of these dates if that suits your travel schedule better.
Clean and well-maintained 1300 square foot bungalow, with fully furnished basement. Front drive attached garage. St. Albert is one of the best cities to live in Canada (currently rated #4 but held top spot for several years).
Pet care: 12-year-old tabby cat, Puddy. He was recently diagnosed with kidney disease and does require some medication (not daily). As well, monitoring of food and water intake, as well as of elimination, is needed daily.
Winter care: snow shovelling of driveway and front sidewalk as needed (shovel, electric broom and snowblower all available for use, depending on amount of snow).
Summer care: if you like gardening, there's lots to enjoy in that department. Flower beds in front. Small back yard but the back half is all perennials and there is a small raised vegetable garden. Both a gas and electric lawn mower available, as needed. Large two-level deck.
Amenities: Bus 1/2 block away, most amenities within 5-10 minutes by car, including Safeway, Sobeys, Saveon, Superstore, the Bay, Walmart, Costco, restaurants, and quaint shops, Servus Place (a very large fitness centre, including pool, etc.) and health food stores. Five minutes to Sturgeon Hospital, doctors, medical labs, physiotherapy, massage, dentists.... Only 20 minutes by car to the world-famous West Edmonton Mall. Note: A car will not provided for your use as part of this house sit.
Outdoors: Lots of walking trails in the community. Also, a continuous walking/biking trail along the Sturgeon River from one end of St. Albert to the other. Cross-country ski trails (5 minutes by car, less than 15 minutes by foot). In summer, lovely botanical garden less than 15 minutes away just across a foot bridge near my home. Farmer's market every Saturday in summer less than 10 minutes by car.
This is a non-smoking property. Homeowner has a vegetarian (plant-based) and primarily organic diet, and everything is available for you to use.
