We have a lovely home on Bainbridge Island surrounded by gardens and wildlife on a high bank with a view across the sound to Seattle and private tram access to the beach below. You can easily walk to the near by grocery and Seattle is a 30 minute ferry ride. This is NOT a paid position.
We primarily need someone to care for our 8 year old Yorkie, Mr. Darcy. We rescued him when his mom died and he was 6 weeks old. He thinks he is a person. He is a healthy, happy guy who needs lots of play and attention. He needs long runs on the beach below. He will chase a ball for miles. He loves tug of war. We have great trails all over the island and he will enthusiatically accompany you on long walks. He will expect to sleep with you. If you work remotely, he will be on your lap, next to you on the couch or at your feet at the table. He is very smart and well house trained. You must REALLY like active small dogs and interacting with them for this position.
We are asking that you come some time before ( early the day before if you are coming in from out of town) we are leaving so that Darcy can get to know you and we can walk you through the care of the chickens and plants. We have three chickens. They need to have their water, food and welfare checked daily. Also, their eggs need to be gathered daily. We have some potted interior and exterior plants that will need care.
We will pay for utilities while we are gone and our yard maintenance person and housecleaner will come on a biweekly basis.
Applicants must be healthy (BMI less than 30), fit, nonsmoking and moderate in their drinking. We do want references and to speak with you by Zoom.
The island offers lots of outdoor activities, walking trails, beaches and biking trails. With COVID things have changed. The island also had many cultural activities as the population is highly educated and many commute to Seattle to work. The house is walking distance to our little town of Winslow, good restaurants and all amenities as well as the ferry. Some may be open by the time that you come. The Bainbridge Island Museum of Art is open and free. The area is a photographers dream. We are also members of the Bloedel Reserve which is a world renowned garden and we will leave our pass for your use.
