We have a lovely home on Bainbridge Island surrounded by gardens and wildlife on a high bank with a view across the sound to Seattle and private tram access to the beach below. You can easily walk to the near by grocery or the charming downtown Winslow. Seattle is a 30 minute ferry ride. This is NOT a paid position.
We primarily need a couple to care for our 12 year old Yorkie, Mr. Darcy and 1 year old Biewer Terrier, Beowulf. They are both healthy happy boys who need lots of seperate play and interaction. Mr. Darcy needs one hour walk a day and BeoWolf two half hour walks though he will go with Darcy for the hour. They will chase and retrieve a ball until they should drop. They love tug of war. Walks on the beach are great. We have wonderful trails all over the island and they will enthusiatically accompany you. BeoWolf will need a short brushing every day. They will expect to sleep with you. If you work remotely, they will be on your lap, next to you on the couch or at your feet at the table. Both are very smart and Mr. Darcy is well house trained. BeoWolf should be by December. You must REALLY like active small dogs and interacting with them for this position.
We are asking that you come some time before ( early the day before if you are coming in from out of town) we are leaving so that Darcy and Beo can get to know you and we can walk you through any questions about the house. There is a guest room in the exterior office so you will have privacy.
We will pay for utilities while we are gone and our yard maintenance person and housecleaner will come on a biweekly basis.
Applicants must be healthy, fit, nonsmoking and moderate in their drinking. We do want references and to speak with you by Zoom.
The island offers lots of outdoor activities, walking trails, beaches and biking trails. The island has many cultural activities as the population is highly educated and many commute to Seattle to work. The house is walking distance to our little town of Winslow, good restaurants and all amenities as well as the ferry. The Bainbridge Island Museum of Art is free. The area is a photographers dream. We are also members of the Bloedel Reserve which is a world renowned garden and we will leave our pass for your use.
