I feel fortunate to have my house and dogs here in Costa Rica. I am located outside of the mountain town of Santiago de Puriscal (Puriscal to us locals). It is a very "tico" little town, not touristy at all. These are the coordinates ,-
The house is located in a small 21 acre community of 4 houses of which 2 are occupied full time at present. There are trails for walking, a creek with waterfalls you can hear from the house and an orchard of fruit to pick. I am about 15 minutes by car to Puriscal where you can get everything you need. The pacific coast beaches are about 2 hours depending on where you are going. Looks close as the crow flies, but you have to remember the mountain roads make for slow going. Plus if you take the Careterra a Parrita (road 239) which runs infront of our gate, it will take you all the way to the coast but it is a mostly gravel road - but it is beautiful and typical of the old Costa Rica.
The house is one level with an american style kitchen, living & dining area, 2 bedrooms and 2 baths. There is a deck that wraps around 3 sides of the house with amazing views as you are tree top level! There is a land line, and internet. I don't subscribe to local TV, but do have a TV that I use to stream Netflix, etc on from my laptop.
The dogs are the reason for the house sit! I can lock up the house and leave, but the dogs need taking care of! They are easy going. Jax is the senior one of 10yrs old. He is still an active 60lb sharpei/husky/rotty mix. He came with me from the states 3 yrs ago. ZuZu is the new comer. Just rescued her begining of June. She is a young, small white female. She is getting over her mange now, and regrowing hair. She is very sweet and loving as all rescues seem to be.
As you can imagine, the dogs are the primary responsibility and priority in this house sit. They enjoy their human companionship. They can be left alone in the house when you go shopping, or an occasional day trip - but not every day/ all day. On the other hand they travel well and like walks, so you could take them with you occasionally.
This may also be a good opportunity to say that there is no car that comes with this house sit. There are many rental options, and of course the bus system. However it is a bit cumbersome to get to Puriscal via bus.
So, this is a wonderful spot to enjoy nature. Perfect place if you work from your computer or just want to catch up on those books you have wanted to read.
