This 8 yr old single story, low maintenance adobe style home is located on 3 acres in the foothills of Taos, yet only 2 miles from town. Watering some outdoor flowers and plants once or twice a week, taking out the wheeled refuse bin once a week, and being a responsible and reasonable non smoking person(s)are the requirements. A married couple without children is preferred.
There is DISH TV, wi-fi, town water, septic system, electricity, a gravel drive way and a security gate. As the weather in August/September is usually very temperate, there is no AC, and heating will not be necessary due to the passive solar construction.
Taos is an outdoor paradise with hiking and biking trails in abundance, and cultural events abound both here, Santa Fe (70 miles south), and Albuquerque (150 miles south). The weekly newspaper has listings of a multitude of events, gallery openings, movies, local theater, etc. The annual Enchanted Circle 113 mile bike ride is in early September if you're so inclined. Angle Fire and Red River are lovely small villages nearby with activities galore also.
The house and property are located East of town and pinon and juniper trees are many, giving a sense of privacy in addition to 3-5 acre lots for surrounding homes. Roads are not paved, but maintained, and police and fire services are nearby and well manned. A large community swimming pool is one mile away, three hiking groups go on different days weekly, Ojo Caliente hot springs are a one hour drive away, and the sunsets from the back portal are spectacular.
I do have 3 active bee hives but these need no tending, and the bees are very docile and unless I'm working in the hives, they've never bothered me or anyone else. The humming birds will still be around, so their feeder will require refilling as needed. I guess these could be considered pets, but worth the little time it takes to feed them.
We'll be away for 5 weeks, returning 29 Sept.
