Sacramento in September and December for six and eight weeks
We have 3 easy going dogs and a comfortable house in the suburbs of Sacramento, the state capitol. It is a quiet and safe neighborhood with small shops and supermarkets. Our son's dog, Leo, occasionally spends a few days at our home. The city region has 3 performing arts venues, excellent museums, good restaurants, farmers markets, galleries and lots of local activities including a 25 mile river bike/hike pathway a 10 minutes drive from the house.
Sitter must be willing to spend majority of day in residence. We expect the house to be kept clean and tidy, the dog poop picked up promptly and occasional mowing of very small back grass area. There is some minimal pool and house maintenance, but nothing difficult. We have the services of weekly house and pool cleaners but still expect the sitter to keep a tidy house. Sacramento has become a vibrant urban region so there is plenty to do and see. Visits to other parts of the state would have to happen before or after the sit.
The dogs must be walked for about 45 minutes daily. We discourage Rufus’s barking and the Basenjis are a non barking breed. You can leave them alone inside for up to 4 hours but not for extended periods. We ask sitters to use and reinforce the dogs’ training commands regularly; this is especially important for the young Basenjis. We have a backup Rover sitter for occasional drop in visits if needed. Our son lives in the area and is available to answer questions and oversee any vet care that might be needed. He usually stops by weekly to say hello.
If you need to rent a car we can provide a subsidy for part of the cost. Our vehicle is normally not available to sitters unless the sitter carries personal vehicle insurance that is valid in California.
Smokers not considered. Use of drugs including marijuana not allowed. Overnight visitors not allowed.

This is not a paid sit.
