We would like to offer our cozy cottage to a reliable couple or single person who would like to use it as a base to explore the Oberpfalz/Franken region of Bavaria for a period of just under two weeks. You will be able to experience local beer festivals and lots of walking paths starting from our doorstep.
In exchange two good-natured ponies need to be fed mornings and evenings and be mucked out daily and the dog will need pampering and one proper walk a day. Depending on the weather, the vegetable garden might need watering and definitely some harvesting for your own use. Horse-riding lessons can be negotiated with a nearby riding stable and there are plenty of beer gardens and restaurants to be tried out.
The house is simple but equipped with everything you need, such as heating (central heating and wood burning stoves), dishwasher, internet and TV in a quiet and scenic location, with a large garden, adjacent to a small village and surrounded by fields and forests, yet only 36 km from Nuremberg, 150 km from Munich, lots of routes for walking or riding in the immediate surroundings.
I think this stay would suit people who love being out in nature and enjoy sitting at a campfire at night (this is what we often do on summer nights). It is not for people who want bright city lights (although they are in driving distance). Ideally you love going for walks in the company of a dog and you have some experience with ponies.
Attractions like Altmühltal, Fränkische Schweiz, Nuremberg, Rothenburg ob der Tauber and Regensburg are in driving distance. Car necessary but car use can be made available to experienced driver. I can send more photos if interested.
We are very looking forward to hearing from you as we not only see this as a house-sit but also as the opportunity to get to know people from around the world and introduce them to the Bavarian life-style, which, I think, we succeeded in with previous house-sitters from Australia and the US.
