Perfect for a house/pet sitter(s) looking for a secluded area to relax, write, or work online and enjoy nature in-between.
I am looking for a short house-dog-cat sit for Christmas, Dec 23-Dec 27.
The Winter Holidays dates would probably work best for someone who wants to be with family or friends in the Portland area for the holidays.
This secluded NW Oregon home is 0.8 miles off the paved road, on 109 acres of woods with trails down to Gordon Creek. No traffic can be heard from my property. Commute to downtown Portland is forty five to sixty minutes depending on traffic. Drive to Gresham and to Max line is twenty to twenty five minutes.
Petsitters and guests stay in my comfortable, bright, large guest room upstairs, with private bathroom, living area, and bed, with a balcony and a seating area to enjoy sunset views overlooking Portland. Below the separate entrance to the room is an outdoor hot tub for your use, perfect after a nature hike. There is good DSL wireless internet and no TV, and access to use the kitchen downstairs. This is a non-smoking house and property.
My two beloved dogs are Alaskan huskies, a little over two years old. They are people-loving and friendly. They need daily walks, which works well for those who want a daily walk to the stream. People who love dogs find them a housesitting plus. I also need care for my two low-maintenance cats.
The trails on the property lend themselves to 30 min to 2 hr walks, to a beautiful stream. The trails are steep and not public park quality, but are easy for the reasonably fit. I am 69 and do the stream loop trails every day. This house sit is a good fit for one or two people who want to escape from the city, enjoy the woods, and consider themselves dog people and hiking people.
Winter here is usually mild, generally only a few days with snow. When it does freeze, I rush to see the little streams and big stream, since beautiful ice magic often occurs.
References appreciated. Thank you!
Comments from my prior petsitters: “ We thoroughly enjoyed our time petsitting here, the house is very comfortable and quiet. The two dogs are lovable and well-behaved. A plus for us was taking in some good hiking on the stunning forest trails with the dogs. The internet service is great, and the owner is accommodating and helpful.” Dorene and Troy, Housecarers petsitters
ADD: I should note that I had engaged someone who previously sat here, from Housecarers, who contacted me directly asking for housesitting this fall and winter. I engaged her for a longer novemeber trip, a short trip early
Dec, and this Christmas sit. When I called her to see when she wanted to come up and go over dog and gate routines, she said she was at the airport, flying off to a long-term position, and had forgotten to tell me she needed to cancel all three sits. I was able to engage a professional dogsitter at short notice for the first two periods, but not for Christmas. This is the only negative experience I have ever had with the wonderful sitters from Housecarers. My out-of-town daughter has a baby due in January, so beginning in January, I will frequently need a sitter, and will be posting again soon.
