We are looking for a house sitter from early September until late-October, 2019.
We are a retired couple, and travel a fair amount in our motorhome. Our small dogs travel with us, but there is a cat at home, as well as a fair amount of house plants that need watering. The cat is very low-maintenance, and has an in/out door. He loves to be petted when people are around, but he's overall very self-sufficient. We also have a very old Boston Terrier that we may leave at home for this trip (he also uses the in/out door and we have a large fenced yard), and he may be here during the period we'll be gone as well, but we haven't really decided on that yet. If he happens to be here, he is pretty self-sufficient as well, so if you're interested in taking a few-day trip in the area, it wouldn't be a problem. Both the cat and the dog can be left alone for a few days at a time, if you'd like to take a short trip to explore the area.
We live in a very small town on the Western Slope of Colorado called Cedaredge, which is about 15 miles northeast of Delta, CO, and about 50 miles southeast of Grand Junction. We are located on the south side of the Grand Mesa, the largest flat-top mountain in the world. The area is primarily an orchard area, and grows apples, peaches, apricots, cherries, plums, and grapes, much of which will be in prime harvest during the time we'll be gone. Our property is only about 3 acres, but the area in general is absolutely loaded with large orchards. We grow a neighborhood garden, a few outside flowers, and a few fruit trees, which will need to be watered from time to time while we are away (irrigation system). We also have a small pond/water feature with fish, but it requires very little attention, other than throwing pellets to the fish and adding water occasionally.
Our house is a modest 1940s farmhouse that we bought and renovated several years ago, and is situated just north of Cedaredge, with spectacular views of the San Juan Mountains and the Uncompaghre Plateau. Outdoor opportunities abound in the area, with great fishing, hiking, bicycling, canoeing, kayaking, rafting, camping, etc.
If you are interested in spending a little time in western Colorado in late summer - early fall, we'd love to hear from you. Our dates are a little flexible, so please let us know your schedule if you're interested. We'd like to leave no later than around the first of September, and anticipate being back toward the end of October.
Thanks so much for reviewing our post. We've used a Housecarers housesitter several times now, and our experiences have been absolutely wonderful for both us and the housesitters.
We look forward to hearing from any interested sitters.
