Yesterday i paused our ad and this morning we got a message of the house sitters who committed themselves, that they felt forced to cancel because of serious family problems...
Although it is very short notice now, we still are looking for - preferably - two reliable persons (not necessarily a couple) to keep an eye on our property.
We would appreciate some flexibility towards the end of the period, but we should be back at at the latest. To show our flexibility towards the start we can shorten the introduction period and ask you to arrive on the 25-th of November...
We welcome especcially real Italy lovers and - apart from wintertime- preferably keen gardeners.
Up to now no guests are booked for this period, but it will be to your adventage, if you would like to take care for eventual guests.
Some technical skills are in favour, as also having your own car.
We expect you to keep our home and garden well maintained and tidy and to warn us, when things are going wrong. If you might be fond of keeping yourself busy, we would appreciate if you would do some chores on which we have to agree beforehand.
Our property really is a paradise in Italy's green heart. It will offer you rest, peacefulness and inspiration to write, compose or practise other forms of art. It is in the midst of Etruscan civilisation, near to Orvieto with its famous Gothic Cathedral. Besides you will find many interesting signs of later history and art as well, e.g. from the Roman period and Renaissance.
This part of the south of Umbria borders with Tuscany and Lazio. You will find loads of interesting tiny cities and villages in the nearness. Rome as well as Florence are at reach by train (1 resp. 1,5 hrs).
In wintertime, when there are very little tourists, you can experience authentic Italy, as it is for the Italians. Umbria is famous for its 'presepe' (Chrismas stables, even as tableau vivant). At the end of the year the winterversion of Umbria jazz (summer in Perugia, famous artists of the world are playing then) is hold in Orvieto. On the 6-th of January you can attend the celebration of 'La Befana'...
Also during the 9 months that we mainly live in this heaven, we regulary feel the need to hug our (grand)children abroad every now and then. We don't want to leave our property uninhabited. Therefore we invite you, preferably real Italy lovers and keen gardeners with 'hostblood' to take over our role, also towards eventuel paying guests.
We are looking forward to welcoming you!
