We are seeking a responsible, experienced and mature, cat-loving couple or lady to look after our sweet and affectionate cat Minky at stunning Great Lake Taupo - NZ's largest lake.
Taupo, is an international resort town in the center of the North Island. It has been named NZ's Top Town and is considered the Adventure and Event Capital of the country.
There is so much to offer here such as fantastic day trips to all the nearby geothermal wonderlands, Hobbiton (the set from Lord of the Rings) and the fantastic Waitomo Glowworm Caves, or the coastal resorts of Napier and Mount Manganui only 1.5 hours drive.
The cultural heart of NZ is in Rotorua just one hour away, which is another big resort town where you can learn all about the fascinating Maori culture and many other tourist attractions.
Just a couple of blocks from the house are miles of lakefront walking/biking/running paths with views of the three majestic volcanoes, plus natural hot springs. Some of the world's best hiking can be found in the Tongariro National Park such as the Tongariro Alpine Crossing, regarded as one of the ten best hikes in the world. Oh and if you love fishing don't forget the National Trout Center; Taupo is world-renowned for it's fishing and luxury lodges.
You might also enjoy one of the daily boat trips on the lake to the Maori carvings, or find a sunny window seat at one of the great pubs, clubs, restaurants and cafes, many with lake and mountain views. Or if you are really brave there is jet boating, sky-diving, bungy jumping etc...
Taupo is an international holiday destination with all mod cons you could wish for while still retaining a country town feel. You will find people very friendly and welcoming. There is a wonderful library, museum and cultural center, yoga and gyms. There are always festivals and events, weekly markets, and "Art in the Park" each Saturday.
For Minky we seek a mature, clean, non-smoking and happy couple (or lady) who are preferably retired, or work from home, and will be around for her quite a bit. This would be a perfect retreat for a writer/artist or someone who works from home or online.
With only one healthy, independent cat to take care of you will have lots of time to get out and about during the day or just sit back and relax.
The house is a cosy and comfortable chalet-style cottage of three bedrooms and two bathrooms. You will have the master bedroom with large walk-in robe and ensuite with bath and shower. The bedroom is a lovely large room with a wall of glass overlooking the private side garden and the nature reserve that runs all along the sunny north side of the house. There is an open-plan living and dining room kitchen with a large vaulted wood ceiling. The living room is very bright and sunny with large windows overlooking the front deck, trees, with glimpses of lake and hills behind. The daily sunset from the living room or deck is not to be missed.
There is cable TV/DVD in the living and bedroom. Also High speed fibre-optic internet is available for your use. All utilities and heating is included in this sit so we would like diligent, power-conscious folks.
The lawns are taken care of by a contractor so there will only be a little weeding and pruning to keep things tidy through the winter. All in all we hope you will come and enjoy our piece of paradise and have a wonderful time here in Taupo in safe and beautiful surroundings.
The dates required are May 24 - October 15, 2016 however we may be able to be somewhat flexible on the end dates.
There is a car available if required.
