FIRST THE BAD NEWS
On 16th April 2016 ,a 7.8 earthquake hit the Ecuador coast claiming rhe lives of 650 plus people ,resulting in 250,000 Ecuadoreans being made homeless and consequently ,there were 70,000 injuries ,as well as many missing persons This was the most frightening experience of our lives The worst damage occurring six hours North of us in Pedernasles / jama
the claim is that there have been 1034 aftershocks but we have not been feeling any
This has been the first earthquake ,that we have ever experienced in our 10 years of living here My husband and I were realatively unscathed by the tragedy ,minor injuries to my foot and our home sustained only a little cosmetic damage We did lose two of our ducks sadly
We now have 8 ducks and 5 chickens and three dogs
The epicentre was a 6 hours drive away
Since April 16th ,Ecuador has amazingly returned to pre terremoto status in our area Malls are open and fully stocked as before Buses are running and water ,food ,plentiful Electricity returned after only five days
It may be a long shot but we are hoping that someone might be interested in house sitting / pet sitting for 3-4 weeks ,or even longer
Hoping to visit our daughter in the USA ,who was hospitalized this week but who has since returned home and is doing well
Our home is modern and comfortable and my husband and I are retired professionals We love our critters The climate here is perfect We have a cleaning lady who comes in twice a week and are working on finding a new gardener Our gardener lives 15 miles away and lost his home and everything and dropped most of his jobs to work on rebuilding his home
