Beautiful house on the Umpqua River 12 miles from Sutherlin on highway 138, close to Tyee Landing. It sits on 2 acres of lush property - large barn, several out buildings, fruit trees, flowers, shrubs and garden space.
I'm looking for someone to watch over the house and property while I am out of town. This is a three level, daylight basement type of home, the master bedroom and bathroom and living area are all on the middle level. Access to the yard, garage---almost everything except the mailbox is down a set of stairs. I understand that the stairs could make this undesirable for some people. I certainly would not want that to be a big surprise.
The ideal candidate would be a quiet, private individual who enjoys the outdoors. One of the first things that visitors mention is about how quiet it is here. There is plenty of hiking, fishing, any number of water activities, a little gardening, and everything the Pacific Northwest has to offer! The road out front is always a good walk with some kind of a surprise in store. High speed internet included. Hot tub.
There are a couple of things that need to happen while I am away. The fall leaves need to go away. This is not a huge job but the house needs to look like somebody lives here. In the spring the grass will need to be cut about 4-5 times before I return or it will be six feet tall--no joke!
I should also mention Timmy, he lives here also and will be staying whilst I wander. Most people would call him a cat. He is not a cat but a Panther in disguise. All that he will require is for his dish to be full as he comes and goes as he sees fit. He might, for some unexplainable reason, take an interest in you but I would be wary, if I were you. For other unexplainable reasons, I seem to be the only human that he will have anything to do with. Time could change that---who knows, but be careful.
For this long term stay, utilities not covered by owner include: electricity(above a base level of $80), trash removal, cable TV, cell s do not work here
This house uses wood as the primary heat source. There is electric back-up to maintain a base low temp but to attempt to heat the house with electric heat would be very expensive. My system works well but someone needs to pay attention and of course, wood needs to be hauled in from the woodshed. There will be way more than enough wood for the season but it would be possible to burn it all up in a couple of weeks, if one was to do so with out a clue or thought.
If I haven't scared you off by now then maybe you could have a wonderful stay on the third largest (by volume delivered to the Pacific) river on the west coast of North America.
Please contact me to begin discussing a mutually beneficial arrangement - I look forward to making your acquaintance.
