We are looking for house sitters for the full month of September. We request that you arrive a day or two before our departure on August 31, and that you arrange to stay a day or two after September 30, in case of return flights’ being delayed. We would be happy to have you stay on a few days with us after our return if it suits your schedule.
Our principal need is for people who will look after our seventeen-year-old cat. She seldom goes outside, and never stays out long. We want to be sure that she is properly fed and watered, and that she receives lots of TLC. In case of emergency, there are two veterinarians nearby.
Naturally, we would want the sitters to maintain and keep the house clean, and to keep the garden tidy and mow the lawns.
Hope is a town of about 6000 people, set in the mountains of western British Columbia about 100 miles east of Vancouver. You can get an idea of the setting and the natural beauty here by looking at .hopebc / The town itself is pretty and has many amenities: two decent supermarkets and a small department store, a cinema, many churches and restaurants, an art gallery, gift shops and speciality shops, including several hair dressers and an excellent independent bakery close to our house. The city of Chilliwack, about half an hour away by car, has bigger supermarkets.
This is the perfect place for artists. The surroundings are spectacular: high mountains, lakes, and impressive rivers. Hikers will find beautiful trails close by. There are several places of historic interest in the area, and many beauty spots. Harrison Hotsprings spa is less than an hour away. September weather is usually pleasant, and the autumn colours are lovely.
Our house is situated on a quiet cul-de-sac and directly overlooks the Coquihalla River, which provides an ever-changing picture. We would make a car available, and two bicycles.
Again, our cat is a priority.
