We are heading up to visit family and friends in our second RV big trip to New England.
Our home is in the resort city of Sugar Mountain, NC. It is just 30 minutes from Boone and Blowing Rock and down the street from Banner Elk. Sugar Mountain is a very safe community. The Sugar Mountain Police Department works a 24-hour day schedule, 365 days per year. We have great neighbors just across the street.
The fall is a great time in the mountains... the leaves are changing and we a just 15 minutes away from the Blue Ridge Parkway. There are lots of great events in the mountains and all kinds of festivals during this time.
The home has cable TV, high speed internet, AC, a hot tub and lots of decks with views of the valley below.
Our home is on the side of a hill and their are steps from the driveway to the first level entrance and a spiral staircase to the second level. There are also outside stairs to the second level.
My 90 year old mother has made it up all the steps... but if you have issues with steps then this is not for you.
The lower level has a separate room with bath and its own entrance and a large covered deck. There is also a coffee maker, fridge and queen size bed. The upper level has lots of floor to ceiling windows with great views. You will feel like you are in a treehouse.
Our Dogs
We have three friendly dogs and may end up taking our 7 lb.Harley with us on the trip. We asked Buddy (Labradoodle, 10 years old) and Sammi (Chesapeake bay retriever 9 years old) and they wanted to stay home... an RV with 4 people seemed to be crowded for them. They are both loving dogs and get along well with people. We do have a fenced side yard for the dogs. Buddy usually hangs out on the top deck(he has bad knees) when not inside but most of the time they just want to be inside. Sammi loves to go for walks.
Once in a while Buddy has some ear problems and we can show you what to do if he has issues. Both of them are headed to the groomers before we go... so hopefully will not be a problem.
They are fine if left alone if you decide to take in the local sites, farmers markets, art shows, and they have free music in the local park in Banner Elk on Thursday nights(during the summer). They even have local theater and music programs at the local college.
We just expect you to take care of our dogs and keep the house as you found it. No yards to care for and the rain keeps our plants watered just fine. Our neighbors watch out for each other when any of us are away.
