We are looking for a housesitter/ housesitters who would enjoy a peaceful country location close to town. We spend the winter in Mexico from 1 December until 31 March.
You will enjoy our 3 bedroom home. TV and internet (high speed) available. Pet free and smoke free home, although you may bring your pet subject to approval . Our home is a three bedroom ranch with full bath plus a guest bathroom. The kitchen is an eat-in room with large windows and new appliances. My favourite room is the living room, it has a large south-facing picture window that lets you watch the birds or just soak up the sunshine while you enjoy a coffee.
We live about 8 miles east of Bracebridge. Our road is well maintained in winter; the school bus goes past daily. The only maintenance duties required are to be able to run a snowblower in order to clear the drive way, although it could be shovelled if you preferred. A vehicle is a must since the town bus system does not extend to our sideroad.
Bracebridge is a well serviced town with many activities. There is a vibrant community of artists and craftspeople who are part of Muskoka Arts and Crafts. There is also a theatre with live performances and a community theatre group. The Fire and Ice Festival turns the main street into a tubing run for one weekend.
A Sportsplex provides swimming, yoga, exercise classes, wall climbing, a walking track and many community classes. There is a well maintained ski trail and snowmobile trails available. There is a league for seniors to play hockey as well as outdoor and indoor skating facilities. If you enjoy the sport of curling there is a club here.
We charge only the cost of the heat and hydro you use, no actual rent. This has worked well for others in the past. Last year the average cost was $425 per month over 4 months. We would require you to pay into a bank account each month to cover the amount of heat(oil, avg $400/mo) hydro (avg $100/mo)and any other services you require.
We look forward to meeting some new people and introducing them to the excitement of winter in Muskoka.
