Santa Fe consistently makes the top 10 small cities to visit in the US. There are numerous art galleries, museums, publeos, 2 National Park Historic sites, 2 National Forests, and lots of hiking and mountain or regular biking. Santa Fe is noted for it restaurants, especially SW Mexican cuisine. The house is 20 minutes to the Santa Fe Plaza. Santa Fe is sunny, most days and is the highest state capitol at 7000'. Cool/cold weather is possible, but it will warm quickly (in a day or two).
Our rural home is a 3 bedroom, 2 bath with garage, single story Santa Fe style house. It sits on 1.6 acres with great views and many times there are outstanding sunsets and sunrises. Our community has dark sky covenants so on clear, dark nights the Milky Way puts on a show. We especially enjoy watching the International Space Station fly over. There are friendly neighbors who have used housecarers. New, well-equiped kitchen, large cable tv and DVR, very high speed internet. No landline but good mobile coverage. Hot tub. Grocery store, postal services, and some restaurants and library nearby. Great hiking/biking trails. The community is very quiet (no nearby barking dogs or crowing roosters). Some nights, you can hear owls hoot and coyotes sing.
We have an elderly labrador retriever (13) who has become lame in one elbow. At 85 lbs., he is a big very gentle boy. He needs a <1/2 mile walk in the mornings, and to be let out during the day as needed (though he can stay alone in the house for 6-7 hours). He loves to sit on the back patio and does not run off. He eats twice a day and has meds that address his pain. He is sweet and gentle. He loves to be near you and to have you pet him. The vet is nearby. We also have a birdbath to fill and some plants that need to be watered.
Albuquerque is 1 hour south and is worth visiting. It has a full-service airport and Southwest Air is the dominant airline, with generally reasonable rates and schedules. Most other major airlines also use ABQ. Santa Fe has a small airport with regional service, a bit more expensive and limited.
