We are looking for a house sitter from 18th June 2018, to relieve our existing housesitter & care for our 2 ferrets, 4 hens, 1 housecat & 5 feral cats for approximately 2 weeks.
Baby is a rescue ferret who has been with us for 2 years & a half. He is very playful & enjoys an hours play with his toys at least once a day. He doesn't bite, is toilet trained & sleeps most of the time. His "Ferret Nation" cage, in the lounge, has fresh laundry each week & his litter tray paper changed morning & evening. He will need his nails trimming once a fortnight. I use his ferretone drops on his tummy to distract him whilst I trim! Bluebell is his little lady ferret friend who has her own cage but joins him for playtimes.
Our 4 hens live in the back garden, they free range during the day & are locked away at night. Their coop is inside a good sized aviary to keep them safe. We do have the odd fox visit during the night who has also been seen early in the morning! At midday, they are put in the aviary with millet sprays & meal worms for an hour or two. This routine gives a window of opportunity should there be any need for us to leave the house. We never go out without securing the ladies, just to be on the safe side. We have one or two sparrow hawks in the area & they have caught the odd pigeon. Because of their good diet, (layers pellets, spinach, pasta, thin slices of ham & the odd grape) our hens do lay gorgeous eggs! We put food out for a family of strays that have been around for a couple of years or so. But 1 is now a housecat.
There is also a little family of hedgehogs that visit us at night. So, we put hedgehog food & fresh water out for them. Unfortunately, there have been no sign of them this year so we hope they're alright. During the day there are many varied wild birds that come to the garden feeders so we always keep a good supply of bird seed in the shed & top them up when needed.
The house is a 3 bed semi with driveway, wifi, talktalk tv, free uk calls to landlines & mobiles, two tv's one in the lounge 40" & one in the main bedroom 21" (with aerial points in all bedrooms & the kitchen), gas central heating, shower over bath, new gas oven & hob & a new microwave oven. There are french doors leading to the patio & a good sized, south facing back garden with a 16 foot long wildlife pond with frogs. It is usually a quiet area, unless someone has a barbecue. The Beaumont Leys shopping centre is only a 10 minute drive away, plus there is a Nisa supermarket, post office, chip shop, d.i.y. shop & bus stops well within walking distance. Leicester town with the famous "Golden Mile" is a 15 minute drive or 20 minutes by bus. There are plenty of lovely country walking areas nearby for nature lovers & some truely authentic curry houses for those who enjoy Indian cuisine.
We plan to return for Wimbledon.
Experience with clipping ferrets toenails is not vital but handy.
