We are looking for a couple or small family able to commit to a six month period from Mid-April to Mid-October We would like people who are non-smoking and experienced with living in a tropical beach location. No pets please as our little rescue cat is very territorial. Being able to communicate well in English is essential, and some Spanish would be useful.
Our 3 bedroom is cool breezy bright and airy, with large terraces, beautifully landscaped and situated on a large fully walled lot with a fabulous pool in the extremely safe town of Progreso, Yucatan on the Flamingo coast. We have excellent wifi and dependable power and water. It is steps away from the sandy beach in the quiet end of town but within walking distance to the market, restaurants, and the malecon. It is only a 30 minute drive or 32 peso return bus ride to the beautiful colonial city of Merida which was designated the Culteral Capital of the Americas for We are also close to many archeological sites, nature preserves, fishing, cenotes (fresh water natural swimming holes), haciendas and more! If you want to experience real Mexico away from tourists and all inclusive resorts our home is the place for you.
There is excellent bus service locally and throughout the area but you may want to rent a car for your stay. Power is very expensive here so in order to discourage over usage we require that you pay the electric bill. This should not exceed $50 US per month if you are careful. We would expect you to be able to handle small repairs that may arise, yourself, or using tradespeople we recommend. We would be responsible for repair costs. As mentioned above this is a real Mexican fishing village so expect some occasional loud music, street dogs and some unsightly garbage here and there. But also expect to be wowed by the warmth of the local people, the vibrant colours, the fabulous food, and the glorious consistent hot weather.
