We will need a house/pet sitter for our 2 dogs, 4 cats, and 2 ferrets in our Norman, OK townhouse starting at the end of August 2017 for 2-3 months. There is also a possibility of changing the date; for instance, instead of the end of August, it may be September 15 to November 3 (approximate).
About us: Married couple who enjoys traveling. I am a graduate student, getting ready to graduate this year. I will have to start traveling to obtain experience in my field and my husband will join me.
About our pets: We have 2 dogs, 4 cats, and 2 ferrets.
1 of the 4 cats is a diabetic and requires insulin twice a day with a somewhat special diet, e.g. canned food and small amount of dry food. The cats with the exception of the oldest cat are very sweet and lovable once they get to know you. The oldest cat does not like the other animals, but everyone knows to keep their distance from her and she is happy with that. :) She likes attention; however, I should let you know that she is a very moody cat, i.e. meaning she will bite. The latter can be avoided when you read her body language. The 3 younger cats will adapt to your bedtime and go to sleep on the bed or the dog bed near the bed and wake up with you.
The two small (though closer to medium size) dogs are pretty easy going and loves to hang out with people, take walks, cuddle, etc. They are kennel and potty trained; know their basic commands; and absolutely loves to go for a car ride! They need to be fed 2x a day; walked 3-4x a day; and put in the kennel when you: 1) go out, 2) go to sleep, and 3) will not be paying attention closely, i.e. doing chores, online searches, work, etc,. to keep them from getting into the litter boxes and/or cat food.
The two ferrets have a big cage (may add another cage and attach it at a later date). They love to run around the house when you have to clean their litter box and replace puppy pad. They will bite your ankle if you let them sniff your leg too long, but they are not mean. :) They will go potty wherever there is a corner, so the messes are cleaned up after the ferrets are put back in their cage.
About our house: We have a 2 bedroom and 2.5 bath home with a patio located in a college town. You would be a mile from University of Oklahoma in Norman, Oklahoma where you can take courses as a non-degree student. The closest city is Oklahoma City. Dallas is approximately 2.5 to 3 hours away.
Basic chores: maintain the house (basic cleaning), get mail, and put out garbage every week. We are slowly fixing up things around the house (dry wall, replacing stove top, windows, etc.), so if you're a handy person, that is a plus! If not, it is OK and we will replace or fix as we can over time. You are not responsible for the lawn, fence, or anything on the outside as the HOA maintenances takes care of that.
What we would like from you: References, police check
