House sitter is required for the whole time (15th December 2017 to the 7th January My apartment is modern and airy, in a safe neighbourhood and a 10 minute walk from 2 metro stations, with easy access to the airport for your arrival/departure and to the train stations for day trips. I have an 'ayi' (cleaner/housekeeper) who normally cleans and does laundry, but she will likely be off work for Christmas. But if you're lucky, she might come once or twice during your stay. Otherwise, some light cleaning of the apartment would also be required in addition to care of my cat, Winston.
Winston is a two year old long-hair cat with adorable white and ginger markings. He is playful like a kitten and loves being brushed and sitting on the sofa with you. He is super friendly and very happy with people. You would need to feed Winston, empty litter tray, clean his ears and teeth (two or three times a week), brush him (once a day).
I live 5 minutes from 'That's Mandarin' language school, so you could combine your housesit with a mandarin language course.
Beijing gets a bad reputation for the air quality, but don't believe everything you hear in Western media! You might want to bring a mask for the 'bad days' (about once a week) but the rest of the time it is not smoggy. It is very dry, it almost never rains. Beijing is a very modern city with lot's going on and plenty of Western conveniences and access to things in English, so don't worry if you don't speak Chinese! I highly recommend that you download the app WeChat (like WhatsApp) and then I can share lots of contacts with you who can help you out while you are in Beijing.
