I am looking for a house and pet sitter from Wednesday December 27 until Monday January 8. (there is also the possibility of a shorter sit from December 27 - January 3, when my usual dog sittter will be available, should you be available for the first week, but not interested in such a long house-sit)
Clover, my twelve-year-old hound needs a human who will feed and care for her, as well as the house.
The yard has an electric fence (and Clover pulls when you walk her) so the pet sitter is not expected to walk her, but may have to shovel paths through the snow (if there is any) so she can walk around and do her business.
Clover is fairly low maintenance: she likes to sleep, eat, and bark at things. In addition to eating 2x a day, she requires medication before both meals. Her meds are pills and I push them into peanut butter on a biscuit, which she gladly eats right up. You will need to let her out in the yard to pee about an hour after she gets her meds; they are diuretics.
Because of my work schedule, she is used to being alone from 9-5, but cannot go more than 9 hours without a yard/potty break.
The house is located in a wooded residential neighborhood between Kingston and New Paltz, New York. With Woodstock and the Catskill Mountains a short drive to the west and the Hudson River a short drive to the east. Ulster County is an artsy, outdoorsy, funky place with plenty of cultural offerings from nearby colleges as well.
