WHAT IS REQUIRED OF THE HOUSESITTER
I'm hoping to find a very clean and tidy, responsible and caring person with verifiable ID and good character references, to care for my four cats, so I can visit for 5 days with my mother. I haven't spent Christmas with her in over 10 years because I can never get a sitter during the holidays...I would like you to arrive on December 22; I'll be leaving on the 23rd and returning late on the 26th, so you can naturally stay that night and leave the following day.
The apartment is low-maintenance: basically, be neat, turn off the lights when you're not using them, separate recyclable waste and place it in the recycle bin, lock up when absent, leave the window open for feline in-and-out traffic (they're never confined to the apartment).
Cats being cats, they're very independent (often absent for long hours during the day, snoozing somewhere or otherwise engaged), but each one has its personality, needs and varying degrees of aloofness. While all of them are docile and love being stroked, Tzarina is very aloof and often goes missing at night, Tiger is mellow and usually indoors or in the garden, Nyobe is very sociable but always in a hurry, and Alabastah is sweet but terrified of strangers (he's also deaf). They are creatures of habit, so the sitter is expected to be present at regular feeding times - between 4 and 6 PM to put down moist cat food, as the «costumers» arrive, and dry cat food bowl refills in the morning and at night; keep the litter box clean; be present, especially at night and in the morning, to provide some companionship and the occasional fuss, and keep Nyobe from bullying Tzarina.
No visitors or guests allowed, no parties or events. Just you.
If you break or damage something expensive (other than the occasional dish, which can naturally happen), please do the right thing and offer to pay for its replacement.
Smoking is allowed outside.
