We will be leaving for an extended stay in France and want our chocolate cocker spaniel, Mousse, to keep her routines and have your company. She will be 7 years old in January, and is sweet and loyal - loves walks but is a couch potato much of the time. She has occasional seizures (petit mal only so far), averaging once a month, which can be alarming but basically require that you keep her safe. Our vet is 5 minutes away. Mousse easily takes her seizure medication twice daily at 12 hour intervals.
Our house is a 4 bedroom - not fancy but comfortable - in a suburb (more like a rural small town) about half an hour from New Haven. We live in a neighborhood where we know most of our neighbors who are there to help you out as you need it. You will have plenty of time to explore Yale's free activities and art museums, take in some great restaurants and theater, and explore the Connecticut countryside and shoreline. An occasional sidetrip to New York City is possible. Mousse can be off leash with you in our large back yard. Her bad habits? She will jump up on counters / tables to eat food and may start a keening sound when you first leave her alone. That said, she is great company and we will miss her!
Winter in our area is unpredictable. You may have big snowstorms (we have a short drive and someone who plows) or it could be milder and chilly. It is New England, and as they say, the weather can change as soon as you turn around.
