Looking to get away from the cold for a little bit this fall-winter? We are birders and like to get away to do that from short, less than a week, to more than a month trips, so timing is flexible and dependent on when we can get a housesitter. Primarily looking for a month or so sometime this winter, but again, we are flexible. We raise turkeys and chickens and they would need to be fed and waters changed and eggs collected. We also have one outside parrot (Macaw) that needs to be fed and waters changed daily. Some outdoor plants will need to be watered and wild bird feeders kept filled.
This is approximately 2 hours of time needed for the chores and the rest is on your own. We would fill the feed barrels by the poultry areas but if we are gone for a length time, you would need to be able to lift 50 pound feed sacks to replenish and have no back problems since there is bending involved in changing waters. We are willing to compensate for the right person. This is a beautiful area with mild weather in fall through early spring. We live outside the city limits on acreage, a quiet relaxing setting yet close to conveniences. In addition, Tucson boasts the largest Gem and Mineral Show in the world the first half of February, if you are interested in this. You can hike right from our property: Saguaro National Monument trails are only a mile away.
You would need to be able to arrive a few days ahead for training/orientation. You will need to have your own vehicle. There is a small guest room you can sleep in or use the bed in our camper.
