We are looking for a couple or single woman to house/cat sit our comfortable, well located home and our 2 cats, on the beautiful north coast of Crete, Greece.
We will be away for two periods during next Summer: 3-13 June and 5-16 July. Housesitters can do either or both assignments (3 weeks in between).
Our region, Apokoronas, offers fabulous beaches, lovely old villages, picturesque country walks and is well located for all amenities, including 30 mins from Chania International Airport. Crete is worthy of exploration during your time here: an island with a rugged mountainous landscape with spectacular views, deep gorges and wonderful coastline and beaches; many ancient historical sites including Minoan, Roman, Turkish and Venetian; and lovely rural valleys full of olive groves and vineyards.
The house is 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom with open plan living area, on the outskirts of a small village. We have a large deck with a view of the sea, an outdoor BBQ area, a private walled garden with fruit trees, and room for off-road parking.
We have two seven year old neutered male cats, Monty and Caspar, who were rescued as tiny kittens and hand-reared until we adopted them when they were a few months old. They are kept inside at night. Caspar has some minor health issues requiring a special diet and daily medication. Both cats are affectionate, and take easily to newcomers.
Kalyves, our nearest small town, is only a few 4 kms away and provides everything you need: supermarkets, butchers, fishmonger, pharmacist, lots of cafes and tavernas, and a very good medical centre. Chania, our nearest city, is an easy 30 minute drive away and has a charming‘Old Town’, some great restaurants and good shopping! It also has good larger supermarkets, like Lidl or Synka.
We would like our house-sitter(s) to arrive the day before so we can do a brief 'hand-over'.
In addition, we can provide the use of a car (essential in Crete) for the house-sitter(s) use, if required.
