Sadly our original housesitters have had to cancel their house sit with us, so we are looking once again for house sitters for 13 days in May 2019 who can take care of our rescue Westie, walk her every morning, and our 2 cats, and keep our home clean and tidy. We have a largish garden so any maintenance would be gratefully accepted but this is not a mandatory requirement. There's an above ground pool - 7 x 4 metres. There is central heating and a wood burning stove in the sitting room - all double glazed - so you won't be cold even if the sun stops shining - though it's unlikely you will need either in May.
We have a small 3 bedroom house in Charente, south west France, situated right in the middle of the cognac vines - so lots of nice walks. An ensuite bedroom is available for our housesitters. It is 1.5 kms from local village, Juillac le Coq, which has bakers, bar, restaurant and very small provisions store minutes walk through the vines. 8 minutes away by car is the local small town, Segonzac, where there is a supermarket and doctors' surgery. The pharmacy, vets, bar and church surround the market square.
We are 15 minutes from the pretty town of Cognac with its many restaurants and bars, and well known cognac producers which you can visit and sample their wares, set on the river Charente. There are also several large supermarkets. Jarnac, 15 minutes by car, has supermarkets and kayaking on the river. We are hrs from the atlantic coast, and 1 3/4 hrs from the beautiful city of Bordeaux.
Angouleme, capital of the cartoon with a museum designated to this and an annual festival each January, is 45 minutes away. The tourist office supplies a map and list of the specially commissioned murals by famous cartoonists throughout the town.
Our small Rover Streetwise would be at your disposal if you do not have your own transport.
