My husband and I are looking for a house/pet sitter for June 26 until July 8. We live in a rural county in Virginia about 20 miles east of Old Town Fredericksburg, about 70 miles north of Richmond, VA, and about 65 miles south of Washington, DC.
Caledon State Park is 7.5 miles east of us, Westmooreland State Park is 27.7 miles south east, and the town of Colonial Beach is about 25 miles south east.
We have a 2000 square foot, 3 bedroom/3 bath ranch style home with a 3 car garage and basement on a ¾ acre lot at the end of a cul-de-sac.
Our community is on the Potomac River, our house has a small river view, and we have a community beach a little under a mile away. It is a friendly community and we know many of our neighbors, even though we moved here recently.
Our dog Rico is a 16 lbs, 7 year old cute and sweet terrier rescue from Puerto Rico. He lived the first few months of his life on the streets and the rest of his first year of his life in a small enclosure. Rico is reactive when he sees other dogs, especially large dogs, so we try to keep him away from other dogs. He exhibits signs of fear, anxiety, and stress when he hears loud noises such as thunder or fireworks. We have a prescription medication on as need basis for his noise phobia. Sometimes Rico has difficulties with separation anxiety and we follow certain routines to make our departures as stress free as possible.
Our handsome cat, Tango, is a rescue from a local shelter. He was found outdoors and has always refused to be an exclusively indoor cat. Tango has a kitty door that he can use to come and go at will during the day, but we lock said door at night as soon as we serve him his dinner. We open the kitty door again in the morning after he eats his morning meal. Tango has two litter boxes at his disposal that he seldom uses, but that we check every day, just in case.
We would like for the person who applies to be willing to water our indoor plants a couple of times and to bring in our mail. And, of course, we expect the utmost respect for our property, and the treatment of our pets to be with the utmost compassion and care.
Thank you for considering our home.
