We live in a 2-bedroom apartment directly on the Rhine river in beautiful Basel, Switzerland. Our balcony looks out on the river and is great for people watching. It's a 20-min walk to a smaller river and forest where dogs can be let off leash. There are also two Rhine beaches where dogs are allowed to swim.
Our apartment is situated in "small Basel" (Kleinbasel) and you can walk into the heart of town in 10 minutes. The bus to the airport (30 min) and to both the Swiss and German train stations (15 min) is just outside our door.
We need a house and pet sitter from approximately 01 Jun - 31 Aug 2023 for our loving 8-year-old Lab x Kelpie (Alaska) and two adorable 2-year-old black cats (brothers Ash and Raven). Alaska requires a lot of exercise and needs to be walked twice a day. Our cats spend most of the day in the endless courtyards behind our apartment but are kept indoors at night.
Basel is an international and lively cultural hub with incredible museums, and the Swiss Alps are easily accessible by train. Summer in Basel is so much fun. Highlights are the globally renowned Art Basel in June and the outdoor cinema on the cathedral square in August. Floating down the Rhine river is a national pastime, with every swim finishing with drinks in so-called Büvette, shipping containers made into bars along the river. Cycling is a common mode of transportation in Basel and we have several bikes to choose from. We do not have a car, but the Swiss trains will get you to the beautiful towns of Bern, Zurich or Lucerne in an hour.
We look forward to hearing from you!
