This is your opportunity to get to know the Sonoran desert. Our property is 4 acres of natural desert just outside of Phoenix. There are more than 20 saguaros as well as other cacti on the property and we have beautiful views of the mountain. The setting is quiet and tranquil and will allow you to see much of the local flora and fauna. Each room has views of natural desert including multiple types of cactus. You are likely to see hawks, quail, lizards, antelope ground squirrel, and to hear owls and coyotes. Coyotes, road runners, javelina, and rock squirrels also visit.
We are also located about two miles from South Mountain Park, one of the largest city parks in the country, with 51 miles of trails. Our property is also only 10 miles from downtown Phoenix so you have access to big city amenities as well.
You would stay in our furnished guesthouse. It’s about 500 square feet with a livingroom, separate full kitchen, and bedroom. You will need a car, but grocery stores, restaurants, and other shopping is all within 5 miles. We are hoping for a couple for this housesit.
We would expect top quality care for our chickens and geese. You do not need experience, although it would be helpful. You do have to be willing to spend time with the geese – they are very social animals – so you must like birds. There is also an outdoor cat that needs some limited care. We would also count on you to water the landscaping and houseplants as needed. We also expect you to pay your own utilities. Keep in mind that it will be very hot outside when you arrive – although the weather will be pleasant starting in October. If you are not a hot weather person, this housesit is not for you. This housesit period also covers the December and New Years holidays. If you need to be somewhere else for those holidays, please do not take this housesit.
