We are a retired couple living on the Fraser River North Arm in a new district called Riverside. Our home is a 2 bedroom apartment with easy public transport into downtown Vancouver.
Our Bernese Mountain Dog. ‘Leo’ is an aging dog who does not do well in kennel environments. He is extremely quiet but super people friendly though not so much with off leash dogs .... he is frightened of them and can act aggressively towards them. He needs a little reassurance (and often a distracting treat) until the off leash dog owner calls their dog.
River district is mostly on-leash dogs. Leo gets walked 3x per day. Walks are on the trail area outside apartment but he also loves to go out in the car which we could make available to sitter. We carry and always use a small ramp in the car to avoid him jumping up into car.( Joints not what they once were).
Walking distance from the apartment is a Romers bar and eatery (they also have take out window service for river walkers). The Everything Wine Store is also walking distance and hopefully the supermarket, restaurants and coffee shop will be open in November (scheduled to open summer 2018). Easy bus access to Canada Line where trains run to downtown every minutes.
