Very Loving deaf Dalmatian
Faith, our Dalmatian, loves everyone and is very snuggly. She pretty much thinks she's a 45 lb. lap dog. I never liked boarding and with her unique needs it isn't working out well for her. I'm looking for people with ample dog experience, love and patience. Anyone with some patience can adjust to the learning curve of communicating with a deaf dog. Experience with deaf dogs, special needs dogs or dog training would be a bonus.
Serene Lakefront Suburban Home
Our home is a colonial on a beautiful small lake with 0.6 acres. Lake sports include motorless boating and catch-and-release fishing (except for carp), unfortunately not swimming. We attract a variety of wild animals and have one of the most peaceful lots on the lake. We have a large private park with a dam in the subdivision.
Novi, MI is a centrally located NW suburb of Detroit and shopping meca with Twelve Oaks Mall as the primary attraction and a wide variety of restaurants to feed the crowds. Centrally located between downtown Detroit and Ann Arbor there is plenty to explore. Stay close to home and swim at the beach at Novi's Lakeshore Park on Walled Lake. Five miles away Maybury State Park has foot, bicycle and horseback & cross-country skis trails, including guided horseback rides and a small farm. MSU's Tollgate farm is 3 miles away and open to the public. And if that's not enough Kensington Metropark is 15 miles away and its 4500 acres has something for everyone.
Responsibilities & Pets
Faith - Care, company and feeding. Food 2x/day, fresh water daily, daily play (ex. fetch outside, tug-o-war inside), as much people time as is possible (she's not used to being home alone), the occasional long stretch is fine.
Faith is a rescue and we are her 2nd rescue home. She loves ALL people, including the UPS man. Her tail was severed and so she wags her whole butt in greeting. Her deafness is only a slight challenge, she knows hand signals, and will recall her attention to you with taps on the butt, vibrations on the floor and other visual cues. Her anxieties make the world outside the house/yard more challenging.
House & yard - bring in mail and packages, water pots and other plants as needed/specified. Take out refuse, scoop poop, mow lawn, snow blow if appropriate for the length/timing of the trip.
