Hello. We are travelling to Mackay on July 7th and returning on 15th July for our daughter to play in a soccer rep carnival there. We are looking for someone to take care of our Southbrook home and animals during this period.
We have Puss-Puss our indoor Ragdoll cat, 12 loved chickens (all with names), our horses Chester and Fiona, and some weaner cattle.
Puss-puss has a cat door to his outdoor enclosure, so only needs food, water and company. No litter to deal with.
The chickens will need to be let out of their houses in the mornings, and the houses closed up at night. For our peace of mind, no dogs on the property please.
The horses will need hay twice per day and may need to be rugged if cold and wet.
The cattle are on grain and hay, so need to have trough emptied and swept out every couple of days. We add a supplement to their trough once per day. The cattle are very quiet and curious. We use the tractor to deliver a round bale of hay every few days.
We moved to this home recently from Toowoomba and are still sorting things out. If you want to be occupied, there is plenty that we would love a hand with.
Alternatively you could take care of the animals, relax and enjoy the view. The house is built on the side of a hill with lovely rural views. At night we have a great view of the lights of Southbrook and onwards to Toowoomba. The North-East corner of the house is all glass. Heating is by a lovely enclosed fireplace plus an electric heater for the other end of the house. Motor home or van is welcome.
We look forward to hearing from you.
Michael and Jenny
