On a smooth hill overlooking the bay of Porto Ottiolu there is a house with a breathtaking view on the coast, where, for many years, my family has spent summer holidays and short winter breaks .

A few years ago I refurbished a part of  the house, with the purpose of creating two small apartments attached to the main house, to host friends and acquaitainces.  They are conceived for people who are looking for a destination where peaceful and quiet time can be enjoyed, and more crowded and lively moments are equally close during summer time.

My wish is to have a couple staying in one of the apartments during wintertime, so that the the property is attended.

As I will have to communicate with this person, fluency in at least one of thess languages isrequired: Italian or English or French or Spanish.

The ideal person would be someone who loves quiet places, sea and nature.

My request is that this person should:

(i) keep the house proper and in good conditions;

(ii) feed a couple of nice cats (they are totally independent and live in the garden, as we do not allow them to get inside the house); they are used to have ordinary shop pet food, nothing special;

(iii) ideally, do some light garden care.

No rent would be charged; however, I would ask this person to pay the fees of utilities (energy, gas, water, wi-fi) .

It is important to know that the house is located in a resort which is a holiday resort in the summertime, while in the wintertime is very little populated, virtually desert I would say, i.d. a few families live there and all shops are closed.  However, 2 small villages with all shops, pharmacy, offices are about 5 km away.  For this reason, a car is required.

I am flexible with dates.

I hope this idea appeals to someone and that he/she would have the same "sharing approach" that I have .

Please do not hesitate to contact me for any doubts, questions, idea ... I am open to any suggestion.

Maybe the best way to communicate is via , so if you have a account, please let me have it so I can call you.

Giancarlo

I spent 3 months in Giancarlo’s beautiful house. From the house, you have an amazing view on mountains, sea,sunrise and sunset !! Honestly, the perfect location!!
It is a quiet area during winter , perfect set-up for a laidback vacation...

Porto Ottiolu is a beautiful quiet place with a nice port but you will need to go to villages around to find everything you need, Budoni is at 10 minutes with a bicycle and I founded there everything I needed for my stay.
The host, Giancarlo, made everything possible to make my stay memorable. He wasn't intrusive and was  always willing to help me when needed. Communications were very easy.

Finally, the 2 cats are adorable and need very minimal attention...but they're always happy to be with you and have affection.

One of my best housesit ever!! Only positives stuffs to say about Casalaroccia!!

“ Beautiful and relaxing with 3 charming cats ”

Staying at Casalaroccia was like being at a retreat. The area is extreamly quiet in the winter and with little to no public transport so a car is very necessary for local amenities and to go out and see the beautiful country. Casalaroccia was extreamly peaceful and relaxing and we felt very calm for being there.  The views are stunning from the property and the company of the 3 cats who all wanted lap time in the morning with a coffee, looking over the bay is the kind of peace and quiet people dream of.

Giancarlo was very responsive, and although we did not see much of him during our stay there, he made all the efforts to make us feel welcome and asked very little of us except to feed the cats and keep them company.  If you are fit enough to cycle and have good bikes then it is definately possible to stay here without a car, but you may need to carry heavy water and groceries, very good for the health!

We would definately return, it was an amazing way to see Sardinia for the first time.
