We are heading off for four weeks mid-June to mid-July 2019, and need a dog lover to look after our Gillie. Gillie is a thoroughly charming, gentle and loving 9 year old terrier of mixed heritage (i.e. a complete bitzer). She is well behaved, companionable, and a total creature of habit - but can be a little unpredictable on the lead when passing other dogs in the street. She has just become a little bit cranky on occasion with other dogs now she is getting older - but only when she is on a leash. So she needs a confident person who understands dogs.
We are interested in sitters who can meet with us shortly before you come and stay if possible.
Our house is a renovated single storey house in West Footscray. It's a lovely quiet, safe neighbourhood, with a cafe on the corner, and close to public transport, the multicultural hub of Footscray and only 7 kms to the Melbourne CBD.
There are a number of parks and places for dog walks, including a very popular off lead dog park about 5 mins walk away.
Footscray has a fantastic restaurants, a great market and is a transport hub to the city - which is only 10 minutes away on the train, or less in a car.
Seddon and Yarraville are neighbouring suburbs with great cafes, bars, restaurants and a very cool old cinema.
We would ideally like someone who is not going to be away from the house for very long days, although we have a good backup for times when you're out all evening or have a super long day away planned.
Gillie needs a walk in the morning and evening. We live in a lovely neighbourhood very close to a park where she can chase a ball off leash every morning and late afternoon / early evening, and she gets a small breakfast and larger main meal after her walk. She's an indoor dog, with her own dog door.
