We're heading into the bush for 10 days, so looking for someone who loves a country lifestyle, to keep our home feeling loved and sounding loud, so that our pets don't notice our absence.
We have low-maintenance pets: two loving Labradors, a fat Jack Russell, two cats - one of 16 and a Siamese of 1 year and three very chatty parrots that will need you to be their chef for the time. which is easy because they mostly eat seed, biltong and spaghetti.
There are no special needs except the ability to love them all and not go insane while remembering their unique personalities.
Our home is situated on the water at Boskop dam: you will live in the main house and have full access to our fresh daily eggs from our chickens, veges from our garden, our canoe to enjoy some paddling on the dam and possible use of a vehicle if you don't have your own.
We're situated 20kms out of Potchefstroom our nearest town. However we have a good mini supermarket 2km up the road with a petrol station and a butchery and about 10km away, a great country restaurant for lunches and breakfasts.
There are 5 members of staff for our home, the garden and the care of our wildfowl collection (yep, you'll have a variety of antelope, a couple of llamas, some cranes, giant tortoises, swans etc. around you). They'll need minimal supervision from you.
It's important that you aren't the nervous type: we know that living in the country isn't for everyone.
You'll be able to do day trips to towns such as Parys or the Cradle of Humankind - even Johannesburg - from here. It is essential, however, that you are home to feed the house animals and sleep in every night to keep our home safe.
We do have a guest cottage on the water which is rented out as an Air BnB but we will block it off for the duration of your stay. You will be able to use it for a day or two before and/or after your house sit.
Wifi available (capped) as well as DSTV.
