Our charming, 100+ year-old home is a three bedroom house in the quiet and friendly Seward neighborhood of Minneapolis. It is centrally located between downtown Minneapolis & St. Paul, 3 1/2 blocks from the Mississippi River, near walking & biking trails (W. River Road, the Midtown Greenway), the University of Minnesota, food coop, neighborhood restaurants, etc. We are 1/2 mile from Interstate 94. A city bus line at the corner of our block connects to light rail and/or takes you to downtown Mpls. (NW) or to Minnehaha Falls (S). A small town neighborhood in the center of the city!
You would be caring for our house and small urban yard which includes possibly raking leaves and light yard work in late autumn/early spring and shoveling snow during the Minnesota winter. We have indoor plants which should be watered 2x per month. Our home itself is low maintenance - we have owned and lived here for over 30 years and completed a full updating and renovation of the infrastructure. There is a screened-in front porch, rear deck, garage, and garden shed. There is a cozy wood stove (with wood supply) whose use is optional.
We are looking for a non-smoker. We have no pets and prefer a sitter without pets as well.
Aside from dealing with occasional mail or packages (taking in, notifying us, possibly forwarding), no other services would be required. We have a TV ( no cable TV) and high speed wireless internet and wifi.
House sitters will be expected to sign a standard written agreement, make a $500 security deposit, and pay $300/month toward part of the cost of utilities (electric, gas, and water).
