Rustic, artsy 1800sq ft contemporary cape on a wooded lot near a lovely stream. Quiet country road yet only 5 minute drive from Torrington shopping and restaurants. Great town for outdoor enthusiasts with mountain biking trails, kayaking in lakes and rivers, fly fishing in the Farmington River, and downhill skiing in winter.
House has WiFi but no cable television. Housesitter will need to rake yard once or twice, but it should be relatively easy. If we get snow, the walkway and small driveway will need to be shoveled.
You will need a car for this housesit. There is no public transportation here. House is on a quiet country road With no close neighbors, so plenty of privacy and peace.
Our small dog will be staying with my parents, but, in case of emergency, we would like our housesitter to be able to take her in and care for her...she is very low maintenance. Finally, preference will be given to a sitter with experience caring for reptiles. (While we are planning to board my daughter’s two snakes- a friendly ball python and a juvenile king snake- a candidate willing to care for them would be a big bonus for us. Must be experienced in feeding thawed mice. Eeeew, I know, right?)
Great location for a New England vacation. Buy a pumpkin at the nearby farm stand and carve a jack-o-lantern. Check out funky Collinsville and the walking trails, browse the shops and high end eateries in Litchfield center, go antiquing in the Connecticut foothills, visit the Mark Twain House and Wadsworth Antheneum in Hartford. An hour away is New Haven where you can sample some of America’s most famous pizzas or hop on a train to New York City and see a show.
Sitter is free to travel a bit and spend a few nights in other places.
