I'm in need of a sitter for my four cats, Murray, Milo, Joe Jackson, and Patti Smith, to stay at our home right off the Italian Market in the Bella Vista neighborhood of South Philadelphia. Start date would be the afternoon of Sunday, June 25th and go until anytime on Thursday, July 6th.
The Cats:
All four of the cats are rescues from a cat colony in Philadelphia and each is a little nervous around strangers but two of the four are total lap cats for me. Murray will warm up to strangers pretty quickly because he loves being pet and two of the others will, after a couple days, want some form of interaction.
Murray is the one cat who needs extra care. He gets liquid thyroid medication mixed into his wet food twice daily so its important he eats it all and gets it farily on time. Murray also has a very loud wail instead of a meow and he mostly makes this sound repeatedly when he uses the litter box. You would need to be OK with his noisy cry but not be concerned about it because it is just his way. The other cats are low maintenance and mostly just eat dry food and drink a lot of water. They do like toys so if you do want to interact with them that might be a good way to do it. They all like to go in the backyard and spend the day or evening out there especially if it is warm.
The House:
The house is a typical South Philly row home that is just finishing being renovated. First floor is open concept: living room, dining room and kitchen with a back patio. 2nd floor has a large office, bathroom and laundry/litter box room. 3rd floor has a bedroom, brand new bathroom, and a spare room for storage. We are looking for someone who will water the plants in the kitchen, and outside if it is hot and now rain, clean up after themselves, and keep the house as tidy as when they arrived.
The Neighborhood:
The house is located on a small, pretty, fairly quiet street in the Bella Vista neighborhood of South Philly just a block from the Italian Market. There are nearby coffeehouses, an open market, shops, and restaurants. Four blocks away is an Acme, Whole Foods, and Target. Downtown is just a minute walk and there a several bus lines nearby. You can also walk about 25 minutes to the historic district and see Independence Hall and the Liberty Bell. Overall it is a great, friendly neighborhood that is both quiet but close to lots of things.
So I hope to find someone who will take great care of the cats, enjoy the house and neighborhood, and take care of the place like it was there own.
