ABOUT THIS ASSIGNMENT

Hello, I hope to find a responsible house sitter who can take care of my 3 bedroom home in Nanoose Bay along with my 7-year old border collie while I am in Europe.
The house is a 3-bedroom rancher with two bathrooms. In addition, there is a detached 1-bedroom cottage at the back of the property with its own kitchen and bathroom.
WHAT RESPONSIBILITIES ARE REQUIRE OF THE HOUSESITTER
Pet care. My dog Ben would love two walks a day yet can be left alone for up to 8 hours at a time. He does not need to be administered any medications. A brush from time to time and treats are always welcome. He needs to be fed twice a day.
Overseeing care of home and garden: Water plants and weed flower beds as needed. General care of the home including vacuuming, dusting, taking out the garbage and picking up the mail. The front lawn, may need to be mowed if it is a wet summer. Be adept trouble shooters and make sure all is in working order.
FEATURES OF THE PROPERTY AND LOCATION
The home is in lovely Nanoose Bay in a quiet setting on 0.4 acres. If you are looking for a peaceful and relaxing setting to enjoy the mountains and oceans of Vancouver Island, this is the place! The back yard is low maintenance and has a fire pit, pergola, walking paths and a zen like feel. There is an ocean view from the living room. The home is a 5 minute stroll to the ocean which is a great spot for a swim, launch point for a kayak or SUP. The home is also a 5-minute walk from some amazing trails in one of the regional parks of Nanoose Bay and the dog loves them.
The home has central air conditioning, WiFi, and cable television. Please note that the home has municipal water and is on a septic/field. Care must be taken to ensure unacceptable materials are not disposed of in sinks and toilets.
Nanoose Bay is a 20 minute drive to North Nanaimo and12 minutes to Parksville. Both Nanaimo and Parksville offer a full array of services including farmer's markets and roadside produce stands. There is also a grocery/liquor store 3km away in Nanoose. A car would be required as there is no bus service.
WHAT'S BEING OFFERED
1. You will be sleeping in the 1 bedroom suite located at the back of the property.
2. Full use of main house kitchen, sitting room, living room, dining area, and washer/dryer.
3. Use of my kayak if you like.
3. WiFi, Cable T.V., electricity & propane gas included
4. No rent to stay in an extremely desirable part of Vancouver Island in exchange for devoted care of the home and property and my lovable dog.
WHAT TO CONSIDER BEFORE APPLYING TO THIS ASSIGNMENT
Summer is high season on Vancouver Island. It is typically busier with more tourists on the roads and in the shops. It is also the dry season. This means typically sunny days but also means regular watering of plants in the yard. I am planning some minor renovations to the main home in the spring and anticipate it being complete by the end of June but if not completed, there is a chance that there may be some work happening on the property (new deck). Workers are very friendly and will respect your privacy.
