We are looking for a house and cat sitter for approximately 2 months starting on May 22 through July 16, 2024. The house sitter can arrive either May 21 or 22. We are departing by car to drive to Michigan the morning of May 23. Steve will return by plane on Tuesday, July 16 arriving in the evening so the sitter can depart the next morning.
We would like someone to care for our home and our 18-year-old cat, Shadow while we are away. Duties would include looking after Shadow who only stays inside the house and tending to our home. Shadow is showing her age and could potentially pass away during the period so a sitter would need to be able to deal with end of life issues.
We live in the Point Loma section of San Diego with a beautiful view over San Diego Bay and downtown. We are centrally located for numerous local attractions including the beaches, Sea World, San Diego Zoo, Balboa Park museums and many more. This is a foot friendly neighborhood with many fine restaurants, cafes, seafood outlets and everything thing else you need such as grocery store, drug store, ATMs, post office and the San Diego Yacht Club within a 15-minute walk. From the house you can take walks along beautiful San Diego Bay. Within a two-hour drive are the mountains with many parks and the quaint old-western town of Julian known for its apple pies and gold mine, the Anza Borrega desert, Palm Springs, Los Angles, and Tijuana, Mexico.
We have a spacious single level home of 2,700 sq ft located on a quiet cul-de-sac. This traditional style home was built in 1953 with numerous large windows to enjoy the view. There is a large patio with fire pit to enjoy your San Diego evenings. With a large kitchen and wonderful breakfast nook, formal dining room and large living room there is plenty of space to relax. One bedroom and a den with extra beds and two bathrooms are available to you. There is even a separate “cat” bathroom off the laundry room. The house has solar panels on the roof and central heat/air conditioning.
We are only a ten minute drive from San Diego International Airport. It would be feasible to live here without a car but we would recommend a car to explore the greater area. There is a bus stop 5 minutes from the house. There is a small amount of aircraft noise from the International Airport and the Navy Base across the bay but the flight paths are a good distance away from the house. On foggy mornings you can hear the fog horns of ships on the bay and the bells on the buoys marking the ship channel. The departure point for the ocean going sport fishing fleet is a ten minute walk and naturally there are several good seafood restaurants close by.
