I live in Salida, a small mountain town in the middle of Colorado. My house is in a small subdivision next to the 9 hole, Salida Golf Course. We are surrounded by ' mountains and can boast of having over 100 miles of mt bike/hiking trails. The Arkansas River runs through town and provides: rafting, kayaking, tubing, fishing. Nearby Franz and Long Lakes are nice to walk around and are enjoyed by beginner paddle boarders, fishermen and the local waterfowl. In the winter, Monarch Mt is 30 minutes from town and a great place to ski!
If your looking for more relaxing activities: there are nearby hot springs, art galleries, great restaurants, walking tours, music in th park and thrift stores.
I have a wonderful dog named "Buki" who enjoys a good walk or hike 2x/day. I usually take him around the neighborhood in the morning with either a ball or frisbee. I throw and he brings back while we walk for 45 minutes. In the afternoon, I usually take him to Franz Lake to swim and retrieve a ball or hike on one of the nearby mt trails for an hour. I usually feed him after our walks/hikes 2x/day.
Salida's considered a high mt dessert, so I water a section of the yard everyday. Indoor plants get watered 1x/wk.
