Hello! We are looking for a house sitter for our small dog, Baby, and our 4 hens.
Baby is 17 years old; she is a sweet, calm and loving dog. She lost most of her eyesight and hearing, so she always needs to be on a lead when she goes for walks. She needs to be walked (or let out in the garden) 3 times daily for about 5-10 minutes, and ideally she shouldn't be left alone for more than 3 hours, as she gets quite upset when she is on her own. She just eats kibble, so we leave a bowl of that out all day, and she decides when to eat. She doesn't take any medicines and she normally sleeps most of the day.
Our 4 hens (Willow, Cracker, Strawberry and Peperina) are cherished and loved pets. They need their water changed every 2/3 days, food added every 6-7 days, eggs collected daily and a quick clean of the coop daily. The coop is very small and made of plastic, so it's an easy job. In the morning we let them out of their run into the front garden, and in the evening (or whenever we are not at home) we close them in their run.
Our bungalow is in Lower Hardres, a small village 10-minutes drive from Canterbury, in the Area of Outstanding Beauty of the North Downs. We absolutely love this area, it's peaceful, beautiful and there are plenty of walks around here.
We moved here in 2021 and renovated our detached bungalow, which has 1 bathroom, 1 shower room, 3 bedrooms and a modern open-plan kitchen/dining/living room. There is a private garden and a beautiful view of the horse paddocks at the back, which you'll also enjoy from the open-plan area.
We have air conditioning and water heated by our solar thermal system. If you have an electric car, you can use our charger. There is Netflix/Prime Video/Disney Plus and a high-speed WiFi. We will provide towels and sheets, and everything will be clean.
There is a farm shop just 3-minute walk from the bungalow, and a lovely pub, The Granville, about 10-minute walk away.
Lower Hardres is also just a 30-minute drive from Folkestone/Dover.
There is a bus stop for bus number 18 right outside our bungalow, with buses coming and going once every 2 hours; it goes to Canterbury in one direction and to Hythe in the other. There is also another bus stop at the Granville pub, for bus 620, which is a 10-minute walk from our bungalow.
