We are looking for a house sitter in August to take care of our gorgeous garden which surrounds the house, and to feed and play with our 4 hens who need special support when the temperatures outside are too hot. The garden is on a drip irrigation system which is on a timer, but we need to make sure the potted plants get watered. We also grow food and it would be great to have someone eat it and pick it while we're gone. The hens wake early and love their morning treats. They also get afternoon treats. Their water must be cleaned daily and made sure in the morning to be full for the day. On hot days, their run needs to be hosed down to keep things cooler for them or they can get heat exhaustion and die. They love people. They love their treats. The eggs get collected in the evening and brought in. If you are not vegan, please feel free to use those! They are delicious!
Our house is at a dead-end street and it's very quiet. It's really an oasis. There is a movie theater about a mile away in the small town of St Johns. There are also restaurants and many parks also within a mile as well as two independent bookstores. We live across from the one of the largest parks in the US, called Forest Park which has 40 miles of trails. It's accessible over the gorgeous St Johns Bridge, which has sidewalks for walking across. There are parks within a 1/4 mile in 2 different directions, Cathedral Park, which is stunning, and Pier Park which has forests of old growth Doug Fir trees.
Our house is very clean. It's also comfortable. We expect it to be kept clean. The washer/dryer are in the garage and easily accessible.
We will want to communicate with you while we are away. It’s important for our piece of mind to hear how things are going and to know how you and our hens are faring, so we’d like to have someone who doesn’t mind communicating with us.
