We are looking for a house/cat sitter to stay in our home with Noelle, our 2 year old brown tabby for 3+ months while we are in Florida. Enjoy all the amenities of Historic Old Greenbelt, which was built in 1936 by Roosevelt’s New Deal. Friendly neighbors, liberal and social justice oriented. The community has a weekly newspaper (12 pages!!) with many activities and initiatives.
The house has 2 small bedrooms, one bath (note: bathroom is on second floor) kitchen/dining area, living room and sunroom/porch.
Your main responsibility is to keep Noelle company. She likes her humans to go outside with her in the morning and later afternoon/evenings. She will lead you (no leash) on ambles around various sidewalks, past numerous yards, some with well-tended flowers and some in their more natural state. Each yard is different, most neighbors have been here 10, 20, 30 years. She will want to go in and out through the day. You can still go out to the surrounding areas, leaving her outside for several hours at a time.
We have local cat sitters (high school and college students) who can stay at the house for up to several days if you want to venture away from here to one of the cities.
Old Greenbelt is one of a kind in this area. We moved here (downsized from a big house in Laurel Md) and I felt like I was in a combination of 1950’s Brooklyn and the “Shire” from Tolkien’s books. With a little RV park thrown in because of the proximity of neighbors and the varied yards. You CAN feel like you are living outdoors.
Bonus: We have tons of art supplies you are welcome to use J Lots of natural light on three sides.
