On 12th May to 18th Oct 2024
We are looking for a mature housesitting-couple, or single person, this Winter and Springtime, for 5 months, who can take care of our two friendly West Highland White Terrier dogs, walk them every evening, and take them to grooming appointments in Albury - 120kms to the south. (6 weeks apart). A car-crate for the dogs will be provided. Recently our older dog Angus was diagnosed with diabetes and now requires insulin via a Vetpen every 12 hours. He is a very good patient, and happily lines up for it each time (with food!).
We will create an expense account with sufficient credit for any Dog needs such food, Insulin vials, Vet, grooming, and fuel costs for travelling to Albury (your own transport is required).
We wish for our home to be kept tidy, and for our pot-plants and garden to be well maintained.
Our double-brick Victorian-styled home has gas-heating, WiFi, and is set in the middle of a English-styled rose & camellia garden. We are located at the end of a little cul-de-sac, and our neighbourhood is very quiet.
Wagga Wagga is a large country city with the Murrumbidgee River flowing through it. The "sandy beach" is a place the locals go to. You can walk along the levee bank of the river, and there are free electric BBQ areas. A large playground is adjacent. The Wagga Wagga Annual Show will be held on 13th & 14th September. There are many lovely restaurants to dine at, such as the Magpies Nest, The Oakroom, Thaigga, The Boat Shed Restaurant, The Brew Coffee Shop, Larry's Coffee Shop (just naming a few of our favourite coffee and lunch spots!), and The Charles A la Carte Restaurant. The Sydney to Melbourne Countrylink XPT Train / Coach services runs twice daily. There are also buses that service the town's suburbs.
At the Botanical Gardens there is a cafe, free BBQ's, a small zoo (gold coin donation on entry), multiple garden themes to explore, and the Miniature Railway, with 3 kilometres of line. It operates on the 1st & 3rd weekends. The beautiful Wolundry Lagoon in central Wagga can be walked around, and Lake Albert is a 10 mins drive away, and has a hour walking Circuit. 40kms north of Wagga is the Junee Chocolate & Licorice Factory, with tours and a lovely restaurant, Monte Cristo Historical Home Tour, RoundHouse Railway Museum and the Railway Station Cafe.
The Selwyn Ski fields are 2 1/2 hours away, to the east. The Batlow Cider Festival will be held on Saturday 18 May 2024. If you drive southbound along the Olympic Hwy (30 mins) you will find a town called The Rock. You can hike in The Rock Nature Reserve, and you can climb The Rock if you are fit and adventurous there are great views of canola crops in September!
There also are very good medical facilities here: the Wagga Wagga Base Hospital, the Calvary Private Hospital, and numerous specialists.
You will find lots to do in Wagga Wagga, and the surrounding districts. We look forward to hearing and meeting you soon.
