The best things here, aside from the happy dogs, are the number of birds, especially hummingbirds, and the view out to the ocean. Of course, you need to keep the birds fed in order to invite them in.
Tucker and Nikki are best of friends and keep each other entertained, but still love their human attention. I do not ask you to take them on walks. The hardest parts of their care is juggling their in and out times (really easy) and keeping their food separate. Tucker is on a special kidney diet. They are easy and very entertaining.
Other responsibilities are caring for the potted plants. A housecleaner and gardener are negotiable.
While it is possible to live here without a car, using taxis might get expensive. I've done without a car for periods of time using a combination of bus and taxi. It works great with patience. There is a small store with basics including fresh fruits and veggies within easy walking distance. A bigger store and two local fondas (restaurants) are 4 km away and it is a 20 minute drive to Volcan and 30 to Bugaba for more shopping and restaurants.
In Volcan there is a hiking group, yoga and Tai chi classes, and pickleball court, if you like to meet people while staying active.
