We live in Eugene, Oregon in the beautiful Willamette Valley, about an hour from the Pacific Ocean and an hour and a half from the Cascade Mountains, and 100 miles south of Portland. Eugene is located along the Willamette River famous for bike and walking paths on both sides. We are both retired and would like a house sitter here as we travel and enjoy our retirement.
Our 3-bedroom, 2.5 bath house is located on a quiet cul-de-sac (built in the 1970’s) with trees where everyone knows each other, and adjacent to a 27-acre city park with a large friendly dog park and wooded trails. A shopping center down the hill contains a large upscale grocery store and pharmacy, among other restaurants and stores. That shopping center begins a commercial and residential area that heads north into downtown about three miles to the river, which we reach by walking, biking, driving or taking the bus. Eugene hosts a year-round indoor farmer’s market.
Eugene is home to the University of Oregon and is a cultural mecca - theater, symphony, opera, ballet, brewpubs, live music, wineries, cider houses, PAC-12 sports, many restaurants. There is a terrific LTD public bus system going all over town with a stop located less than a ten-minute walk away from our house. The gorgeous public library is right next to the LTD bus terminal in downtown Eugene. Snow rarely sticks here in the valley, but winter sports are only an hour away by car, but some of the ski shops offer transportation too. Hiking is available year around within a few minutes drive from our house.
We are looking for a mature, responsible house sitter to stay in our home from January 24 through February 27, 2024, and pet sit for one dog Maggie and one cat Luna. Maggie is a very calm dog who only barks once every few months, loves walks and the dog park, is very affectionate and loving, and came to us after being rescued from Central Oregon as a stray. Luna the cat came to our family from the animal shelter and is independent (indoor/outdoor) but loves to cuddle, and meets and greets the neighbors daily. They are both used to a lot of love and attention.
We would like to come home to a house as clean as we left it, and have a few houseplants watered, but otherwise, there are really no other expectations besides pet sitting. We do not allow smoking in our house. We hope anyone staying in our home would love Eugene and Oregon as much as we do.
