we are looking for a non-smoking person or couple to stay at our home and take care of our gorgeous two indoor cats whilst we are away over Christmas and into January for one month. We keep a tidy clean home, do not smoke, and take good care of the things we have and would want similar people to be staying in our home. I travel a lot as a professional marathon runner, usually leaving my partner at home. This time he is coming with me for part of my altitude training and racing trip to Arizona and Texas, as it's over Christmas. Please read on for more info about our home, the area and the cats!
Our home is a lovely terraced 3-bed with a king size bed in the master suite and the other two bedrooms used as studio spaces for both of us as we work as content creators. We have a large lounge and kitchen diner, paved garden with plenty of plants which gets lovely afternoon sunlight, and a driveway big enough for one car at the front.
We live on a main road, with the local post office a short walk away in one direction, butchers and wine shop within spitting distance, and the village of Marple Bridge a short 10-minute walk away with the sweetes array of local independents.
Manchester City centre is a half-hour drive or 20-minute train journey away, and the Peak District is 20 minutes in the opposite direction.
We're surrounded by beautiful hills and the Goyt Valley, with oodles of choice for walkers, runners and cyclists. We're also spoilt for local restaurants, cafes and independent pubs - if you need recommendations please ask!
We're looking for a cat sitter to look after our gorgeous two house cats, Uhtred and Delilah the Russian Blues. They are very different cats but both need attention in different ways that your regular moggie may not!
Uhtred: an outgoing big brute who is pretty easy going and playful, will thank you for lots of cuddles, play time and general human connection.
Delilah: a timid little girl who will hide under the bed to begin with! Warms to you after a while and needs her space to eat seperate let to Uhtred so he doesn't gobble up her food. She also likes attention once she trusts you, in the form of playtime and back scratches, but hates being picked up! She also needs an asthma tablet twice a week which is best given at the opportunity moment when she is sleeping and docile.
We play with the cats separately twice per day for 15 minutes, am and pm - a good feather toy, Uhtred plays chase with his little duck, or a game of mousey! They like to be stimulated as strictly indoor-only cats.
We feed them morning and evening as they are not free fed, so they'll have their meals around 8am and 5pm. It's ok if you are out and about at these times, we sometimes are too, so as close to these as possible is best, and so long as have human connection throughout the stay, they are fine to be left alone for a good few hours (say 9-4, or an evening - we go out and leave them to snooze too!).
Water is changed daily and litter trays are scooped twice a day, changed and fully cleaned once every 2-3 weeks.
